The culture of folding paper is quite common, but using only one sheet of paper to make a flower, an animal or many kinds of patterned shapes, Origami is quite unique and is known all over the world as being part of Japanese traditional culture.
In particular, Orizuru is one of the most famous designs in Origami. The Orizuru design is used as a pattern on Kimonos, and traditionally Orizuru itself can be included as part of a present, to celebrate something good. Above all, a thousand cranes, Senbazuru, is well known in Japan. To make Senbazuru, we use a nail and string to put a thousand paper cranes together. Senbazuru is used to show the wish of good health or peace, and is a particularly votive expression of Japanese tradition.
You may have made Orizuru before, so please make them once again to remember the wish of Sadako,
if you have not made any before, please try to make one, enclosing your wish on the Orizuru.
